Tom Alway was the Featured Artist at the Art Sales and Rental Gallery in Halifax for the month of July, 2009.  View the slide show of the paintings in this series called "Panes and Sills".  The inspiration for these paintings emerged from imagery captured on a trip to Newfoundland.  The device of the window and door frames the scene from the particular point of view of who may be looking through the pane or standing on the sill.   The titles are designed to convey the idea of the viewer. The original image is transformed by the imagination of the viewer, and one gets a sense of who is in front of the canvas.
